At Grainger County Emergency Medical Services we are dedicated to answering every call and treating every citizen or visitor in a professional caring manner and to the best of our abilities.
~~~
Grainger County Emergency Medical Services was started in 1978 under the direction of the Grainger County Ambulance Authority Board of Directors as a volunteer service. It became a paid service in 1986 with the first twenty-four hour station in Rutledge, soon after Bean Station was started, also a twenty-four hour service. Washburn station was soon established as a twelve hour service and was extended to twenty four hours in 2001. Our newest twenty-four hour station is Blaine and was started in September of 2005.
Each ambulance is staffed with a Paramedic and an EMT-IV, which are taught numerous medical and trauma skills in order to diagnose and treat each patient accordingly. Our employees are the most dedicated personnel anyone could have working for them. They are among the lowest paid in East Tennessee and Grainger County, but we take pride in our work and abilities to help others in the time of need.
